Education Center
633 FSS/FSDE – Education and Training Section (ETS) is the cornerstone for quality education programs and guidance to Airmen at Joint Base Langley-Eustis (JBLE). The Langley ETS provides three main functions—counseling/advisement, testing, and program management to Airmen, Civilians, Retirees, and Family Members.
The Langley ETS also provides two additional military members only programs to assist with end of service transition – Accessing Higher Education and SkillBridge.
Upon arriving at JBLE Langley-Eustis, Airmen should go into their Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC) through the AF Portal and update their Education Records. For problems with updating individual education profiles in AFVEC, please send issues to 633fss.fsde.eo@us.af.mil.
Counseling and Advising
Counseling and advising includes providing information and analysis of students’ academic goals and offering options to successfully meet those goals. Education specialists and counselors are knowledgeable about all levels of post-secondary education and help to guide undergraduate and graduate students. Education specialists/counselors assist with education issues and problems experienced by students and refer students to other information sources of financial aid, vocational/technical programs, and other non-traditional methods for obtaining a post-secondary education.
The following is a list of associated counseling/advising assistance. Additionally, Education Specialists maintain student’s education records in the Air Force Automated Education Management System (AFAEMS) to include, but not limited to, reviewing, approving, and uploading degree/education plans to the students’ virtual education record, and annotating student records with comprehensive counseling notes.
Academic Counseling
Education Specialists provide information, resources, and analysis to students ranging from basic information such as credit hour, accreditation, and available programs to more advanced guidance to include assessments of students’ interests and long term goals, preparing for post active duty careers, and working with schools and the Central Office (CO) on the student’s behalf.
CCAF Counseling
ETS personnel counsel Airmen on CCAF opportunities. This includes, but is not limited to, advising on available programs, course completion requirements, transcript reviews, AFAEMS documentation actions, and follow-up actions.
Testing
The testing function includes management and administration of exams for a variety of programs; ETS oversees the JBLE – Langley AFB National Test Center (NTC) that provides academic testing such as CLEP, DANTES, and proctored college exams. The ETS administers AETC Type-6, PME, CDC, DLPT/DLAB, and AFCT exams.
