Military and Family Readiness

The Military Family Readiness Center promotes military family well-being by offering programs and services that enhance family readiness, resilience and quality of life. Collaboration and integration across the system promotes positive outcomes for service members and their families across the domains of military family readiness, including career, social, financial, health and community engagement.

M&FRC provides workshops and individual consultations for active duty members, Guard, Reserve, DoD Civilians, military retirees, and their eligible family members.

Air Force Aid Society

Air Force Aid Society provides emergency financial assistance in the form of interest-free loans or grants. Please visit afas.org for more information or to apply for financial assistance.

Casualty and Survivor Benefits Program

Assists retiring service members with the election of survivor benefits and serves as the liaison between next of kin and government agencies to initiate benefits.

Discovery Resource Center

Offers access to personal computers, laser printers, internet, and informational handouts for all program areas.

Exceptional Family Member Program

Is mandatory enrollment for active duty Airmen and requires the identification of all family members requiring long-term general medical, special education, Early Intervention (EI) and/or Related Services (RS), or modified housing. As the Family Support function of the EFMP, we are here to assist you and your family with any systems of care needs you may have on and off the installation.

Personal and Work Life Program

Personal, Work and Family Life Program equips service members, couples, and families with enrichment services focusing on building and maintaining healthy relationships, strengthening interpersonal abilities, and problem-solving skills to use throughout their military and family life cycle.

Employment Assistance Program

Employment Assistance Program assists military, family members, and all DoD civilians by providing employment skills to prepare for portable careers in the private, federal government, or contractor positions sectors.

Sponsorship Training

Sponsorship is an important responsibility and your efforts make a difference. Relocation is one of the most stressful aspects of military life. You can make a member’s adjustment to life at Joint Base Langley – Eustis much easier by learning about new resources and tips on how to be the best sponsor you can be. Mandatory Electronic Sponsorship Application Training (eSAT) is now available exclusively online.

Survivor Benefits

Survivor BENEFITS PLAN (SBP) RETIREES | Are you retiring? Do you know which state you will retire in? Does that state tax retired pay? These and many other questions pertaining to retirement can be answered when you schedule your one-on-one SBP briefing. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend.

Air Force Aid Society

Bundles for Babies | Participants are educated on budgeting for their new baby and new parent support resources. Eligible participants will receive a complimentary AFAS monetary gift via Zelle. AFAS provides emergency assistance to Air Force and Space Force families when unexpected financial emergencies arise with no-interest loans and grants. Transition Assistance Program

To register for the workshops or briefings, please call 764.3990.

Initial Counseling(IC) |The IC consists of an individual session, which includes a self-assessment to determine the level of transition and assigns a Counseling Pathway Tier to each transitioning service member. IC is required NLT 365 days prior to separation and pre-separation counseling.

Pre-separation counseling | All separating and retiring Airmen are required to have Pre-Separation Counseling NLT than 365 days prior to leaving Active Duty. This information is available through scheduled group briefings (a prerequisite for the TAP workshop). Contact the M&FRC for availability.

Transition Assistance Program (TAP) Workshop | Mandatory for all personnel retiring or separating from the military. Through the mandated components of TAP, separating service members have access to an array of workshops, assessments, and services to prepare them for the transition from active duty to civilian life. Seats are limited. Contact the M&FRC to register.

Capstone | Verification of Career Readiness Standards (CRS) is the Department of Defense’s tangible measurement of a service member’s preparedness for a civilian career. (Contact the M&FRC for requirements and to schedule your one-on-one appointment)

Employment Track | This track assists members seeking employment with resume writing, interviewing skills, networking, labor market information, and federal employment.

Career & Credential Exploration Track | The C2E track assists with establishing clear goals, evaluating training options, and building an action plan. (Contact the M&FRC for requirements and registration).

Boots to Business Track | Airmen pursuing self-employment in the private or non-profit sector will learn about the challenges faced by entrepreneurs, the benefits and realities of entrepreneurship, and the steps toward business ownership.

EFMP

Exceptional Family Member Program-Family Support can help you navigate the EFMP processes, make referrals to required services and provide you with information and resource materials regarding disabilities. We can aid you in developing a service plan that identifies your family’s strengths, needs, goals, and/or barriers. Lastly, we offer an array of workshops and support events for our EFM families throughout the year.

Readiness

Re-integration Briefing | In-processing briefing for service members that were deployed for more than 30 days. Conducted every Tuesday and Thursday at 08:00 AM. Please call 757-764-3990 to register.

Pre-deployment Briefings|Mandatory briefing for service members who are deploying or going on a remote tour. Must be within 60 days of deploying to register. Briefings are held every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 AM. Please call 757-764-3990 to register.

This Spouse Orientation Program is a great opportunity to increase knowledge of the Air Force mission, customs, traditions, protocols, and available programs and services in a fun relaxed atmosphere. Make new friends while learning more about Air Force life.

Initial Key Support Program Training | One-time training required to become a Key Support Liaison (KSL). A Key Support Liaison (KSL) Appointment Letter, signed by the unit Commander, is required to attend the training. Day, evening, and virtual sessions are available to accommodate schedules.

Key Support Mentor (KSM) Training | One-time training required to become a Key Support Mentor (KSM). A Key Support Mentor Appointment Letter, signed by the unit Commander, is required to attend the training. Day and evening sessions are available to accommodate schedules. Key Support Program Initial Training is a prerequisite for this class.

Key Support Liaison (KSL) Networking and Professional Development | An optional learning opportunity available to all Key Support Liaisons (KSL) and Key Support Mentors (KSM).

Key Support Liaison (KSL) Immersion Training | Training required only for Key Support Liaisons (KSL)/Key Support Mentors (KSM) who completed KSL Initial training and/or Mentor Training at another base (prior to PCS’ing to JBLE). The class provides local and relevant Key Support Program information and resources. A Key Support Liaison (KSL)/Mentor (KSM) Appointment Letter, signed by the unit Commander, is required to attend the training.

Military and family members acquire necessary skills for seeking employment. M&FRC offers a variety of employment classes and hiring fairs to meet the needs of job seekers.

Voting Assistance

The Air Force Voting Assistance Program is an ongoing program to assist military personnel, their family members, and all other DOD ID cardholders with access to the installation, regardless of MAJCOM or branch of service affiliation with voting assistance services.

The mission of the program is to provide assistance for all elections, regardless of when they are held, with special emphasis on the period prior to general elections. Want to know what your state requires to register or request your absentee ballots, the Voting Assistance Office is here to assist you.

The Installation Voting Assistance Office is your one-stop shop for all of your voting needs and is located in the Military & Family Readiness Center (M&FRC).
